UrbanSolutions Planning and Land Development Consultants is a multidisciplinary land use planning firm providing professional planning, development approvals, and land development consulting services across Ontario. We work on a wide range of projects including subdivisions, condominium developments, site plans, zoning by-law amendments, and policy planning initiatives. This role is ideal for a student currently enrolled in an urban planning, geography, or related program who is looking to gain hands-on experience in land use planning and development approvals. The successful candidate will work closely with senior planners and project managers and will be exposed to real-world development applications, municipal processes, and consultant coordination.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the preparation of planning reports, justification documents, and submission materials.
  • Conduct planning policy research, including Official Plans, zoning by-laws, provincial policies, and guidelines.
  • Prepare and update planning matrices, condition tracking tables, and development approval timelines.
  • Assist with site plan, subdivision, and condominium applications and related documentation
  • Review and organize consultant drawings, reports, and correspondence.
  • Prepare presentation materials, exhibits, and summary memos for internal and client use.
  • Attend (as appropriate) meetings with municipalities, clients, and consultants.
  • Provide general administrative and technical support to the planning team.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Currently enrolled in an Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, or related post-secondary program.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with planning or mapping software (e.g., GIS) is an asset.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to supply your own personal vehicle would be an asset.
