On October 5 and 6 the 2016 Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) Symposium, focused on Healthy Community and Planning for the Public Realm, took place in Hamilton. UrbanSolutions was a proud Gold Sponsor and attendee of the Symposium. Hundreds of professional planners and students from across the province flocked to Hamilton for this exciting two day event.
The OPPI Symposium offers an exceptional opportunity to keep current with emerging trends in the planning industry and to learn from fellow colleagues. This form of continual learning is key to the profession and to the provisional development of our staff here at UrbanSolutions. This year the key note speakers, Fred Kent and Adam Nicklin, provided us with insight on place making and helping us re-imagine the public realm. Other sessions throughout the two day event included topics such as Planning for Transit Equity, Public Health and Planning 101,Community Energy Planning: The Role of the Planner, and Ideas in Action: Energizing Public Spaces. Walking tours were also offered, showcasing various areas throughout Hamilton.
The Symposium Social After Party was met with a great reception and provided attendees a true taste of Hamilton. Attendees enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting new ones at this great networking event. UrbanSolutions would like to thank GSP Group and T. Johns Consulting Group Ltd. for co-hosting the event with them.
UrbanSolutions hopes to see you next year at the OPPI Conference at Blue Mountain!
